Meet Tenzin L. a member of our CelebrAsian virtual belonging community (VBC), whose journey we're highlighting in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Born in Kathmandu, Nepal, Tenzin and her sisters were raised by their grandparents while her parents worked in the U.S. with the goal of building a promising future for their family. At the age of 12, Tenzin’s reunion with her parents in America marked the beginning of a new life. "Arriving in the U.S. was a seismic shift in my life. Overnight, everything changed. I had to navigate new streets, learn a new language, attend a new school, and integrate into a completely different culture,' Tenzin recalls. 'There were many challenges, but I faced them head-on." Inspired by her parents' work ethic, Tenzin embraced challenges, excelling in high school academically while being active in sports and clubs. Today, she proudly holds the distinction of being the first in her family to earn a college degree. Tenzin's story inspires our CelebrAsian VBC and highlights the value of sharing personal experiences. #AAPI
