Partnered with his brother Tom, they expanded and started painting for a restoration cleaning company in Fairfield County. This evolved to a network of insurance adjuster relationships and subsequently more insurance work. Initially, they started out doing small jobs. But as they proved their competence, the size and complexity grew. Tom went on to real estate development and home construction. Jim formally started JP Maguire Associates in 1982. When Jim started the company, he was the sole employee and only used subcontractors. As the business grew, he added carpenters, painters, estimators and managers. Until 2001, JP Maguire Associates was only a reconstruction contractor, thus leaving the cleaning and mitigation to other companies. With determination to grow, and better service his clients, Jim decided to become a full service 'one stop shop' in 2002. This expansion and growth took JP Maguire Associates from their 7500 sq ft facility in Newtown CT to a 37,000 sq ft facility in Waterbury conveniently located off RT 84 and RT 8. This location currently serves as the corporate headquarters and is a convenient location to efficiently service our Connecticut customers. JP Maguire now has a thoroughly trained staff of approximately 60 employees ready and capable to handle a small water loss to a multimillion dollar commercial fire.
